We know how important your home is, and coming back to a beautiful scent in every room is enough to put anyone in a good mood. A few customers have noticed their home's fragrance fades quicker than they would like after cleaning. Here’s a cheat sheet to keep your home smelling fresh:

A classic mistake: The spray-and-dash approach

We use pure essential oils in our cleaning products, to give you a splendid clean and leave your home scented with natural blends of our favourite ingredients. Someone told the teacher that some customers are cutting their scent journey short, by spraying Purdy & Figg onto a surface and immediately wiping it away. Unless you're cleaning something more delicate, like wood, you can leave your spritz to sit for a few seconds before wiping, to leave a stronger scent. 

Another easy trap to fall into 

You may have gone nose-blind, or in simple terms, after using the same scent again and again, your nose has simply stopped noticing it. In fact, we cannot actually smell scents for very long at all, especially once we’re familiar with them. Our brain is set to analyze the aromatic stimuli to instruct the body how to respond, e.g. flight or fight, and it’s the appearance of scent, or a change of scent that triggers the brain’s action.

How to get top marks 

Remember, patience is your friend! If you leave our products to sit for a few seconds on any surface, not only will you get a more effective clean, but a stronger scent will hang around in your home. So, instead of immediately wiping your surface, give Purdy & Figg a few seconds to settle in and work its magic. This will allow the cleaning agents in every bottle to better tackle dirt and grime, and also give the fragrance a chance to settle in your space. 

A masterclass in mindfulness 

Cleaning can be an act of wellbeing too, like running a bath, or doing your times tables. By taking your time and allowing our natural cleaning agents to soak into the surface you’re cleaning, you're giving yourself a moment of calm, and creating a longer-lasting sensory experience in your home.

Our seasonal subscription means you get three different scents every three months, inspired by what’s blooming in nature. Just head to your customer portal if you fancy a change. Some customers even keep a few bottles on the go at a time, and use a different scent in each room of the house, so you’ll never go noseblind again.
