Purdy & Figg Loo Bombs are a gentle yet effective natural cleaner for the loo, working to whiten, disinfect and prevent limescale build-up. Follow this simple step-by-step guide from Charlotte and Purdy to make your own Loo Bombs at home - they can be made in bulk and stored in an airtight container for whenever you need them!
The recipe below makes 6-10 loo bombs.
Ingredients
- Teacup of Bicarbonate of Soda
- ¼ teacup of Citric Acid
- 30 drops of Essential Oil blend
- Witch Hazel (up to 1.5tbsps)
Method
- Measure out Bicarbonate of Soda into a mixing bowl
- Add Citric Acid and stir well with a metal spoon
- Add the Essential Oils to the Witch Hazel in a beaker and stir with spatula
- Add liquid gradually, ideally using a spray bottle, mixing with your hands (wear gloves if you have broken skin and/or allergies)
- Pause to mix well between each spray/pump to allow mixture to absorb the liquid without creating a reaction
- The mixture is ready when it clumps loosely in your fist
- Transfer to individual moulds/cake cases (approx 2 inch diameter)
- Allow to harden for at least 3 hours before using
- Store in an airtight container and keep for up to six months
How to Use:
- Drop one ‘bomb’ into the loo
- Leave for 30 minutes or overnight, then scrub with loo brush if necessary
- Repeat once a week to maintain, every day for a week for tougher stains
