They’re an easy way to brighten any room, but freshly cut flowers are also proven to boost happiness and promote calm. Different plants and flowers are at their best at different times of year, which is why we curate new scents for each season. Here’s our pick of the bunch for summer arrangements.
Geraniums
These bright blooms thrive in warmer weather and their sweet, rosy scent evokes long summer evenings spent outdoors. We included these classics in our Geranium & Ylang Ylang Seasonal Scent, so you can bring their heady fragrance into your home with you too.
Roses
Roses are a timeless, elegant staple that come in a colour for every occasion. Yellow roses symbolise friendship, joy and well wishes, while the famous red rose means love, passion and desire. Most modern varieties bloom a few times a season, usually between May and October.
Ranunculus
Known for their ruffled petals and vibrant colours, ranunculus add drama to any flowerbed or vase. Their strong stems and lush appearance make them ideal primary blooms for cut flower arrangements.
Lavender
Lavender flowers in the UK between July and August, and from May in its sunnier Mediterranean home. It can be used fresh or dried in arrangements, or savour your sprigs by letting them dry out in the vase. If you can’t get your hands on the real thing, cleaning with our Linden & Lavender Seasonal Scent will fill your home with their fresh fragrance.
Peonies
Recently voted the UK’s favourite flower, these fluffy-looking blooms are enjoying a comeback. Their spherical buds look gorgeous even before they’ve opened, and their frills and long length make them the star of this season’s bouquets.
Don’t forget to cut stems at a 45 degree angle and put them in warm water with flower food. White wine vinegar and a couple of teaspoons of sugar work just as well if you don’t have any food to hand. Happy arranging!
