We spend much of our down time in the living room. Whether that’s having guests over or a quiet night in watching Netflix, it’s definitely the hub of the home. But - if you’re anything like us - it can be hard to feel relaxed in your sitting room if it’s covered in clutter or building a blanket of dust.
It can feel like a big task tackling the living room, so we’ve gathered a list of 5 easy jobs that can be done in under 15 minutes to help you get back into the swing of things!
1) Clean your Blinds
Its super easy to forget about cleaning your blinds, let alone know how to tackle the job! Thankfully, this oft-forgotten task can be made quick and simple with a few tips. Begin by closing your blinds and giving them a wipe down with a microfibre cloth—you can also use a fluffy sock for this! Give them a quick vacuum to remove any remaining dust or debris, then mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water to spot clean any stains (or a few sprays of Counter Clean!)

2) Declutter
You’ll be surprised how much stuff can accumulate over the years that you don’t use anymore. Whether it’s the bookshelf, the coffee table or the dreaded paperwork draw, choose one area of your living room to declutter and organise. If it’s no longer useable, either dispose of it or grab a charity bag to pass it on. If it’s looking like a hefty task, choose just one area to declutter every day to make it more manageable. You’ll be clutter free in no time at all!
Living Room Clutter Culprits (pick 1 per day!):
- Coffee Tables - that stack of 2-year-old magazines? Pop them in the recycling (or use them to line the tops of your cupboards to catch the dust!)
- TV cabinets - there’s always at least one remote control that no one knows what it’s for!
- Shelving units - we’ve all been there when the decorative ornaments start looking more like a jumble sale. Rearrange and pare it back for a less cluttered look.
- Cable draws - (AKA the I’ll keep this in case it’s useful for something one day…!)
- Toy Boxes - children quickly get bored of playing with the same toys - why not organise a toy swap or donate some to charity!
3) Carpet Refresh
Eliminate carpet odour by making a simple mixture of bicarb and essential oil drops (we recommend Citrus or Eucalyptus). Distribute the bicarb evenly over your carpet and leave for 10 minutes, give the carpet a quick vacuum and you’re done! This is a great task to do if you have pets.

4) Clean your Windows
Start by moving your blinds or curtains out of the way for a more thorough clean. Spray a cleaner—such as our Counter Clean—on the window and then use a dry, lint-free towel or cloth to wipe. You can also make your own glass cleaner with a 50/50 mix of distilled white vinegar and distilled water! If you’re struggling with streaky results, try using newspaper instead of a cloth. Your glass will be gleaming in no time!
5) Radiator Clean
Radiators are not often at the top of our cleaning agendas, but they can be a huge source of dust in your living space; especially if they’re old. We recommend spending 15 minutes every few months giving them a clean to ensure they stay in tip top condition. The easiest way to tackle this task is by using a hairdryer to blow all the dust through the vents. You can lay some towels down on the floor to prevent dust getting into your carpet! Lastly, give the outside a quick wipe with Counter Clean and a microfibre cloth. If your radiator is particularly dirty, lay a bathmat underneath and pour some warm water through the vents. This will help to loosen any remaining dust.
